Spend 10 days studying the process of portrait painting in oil with internationally distinguished artist Douglas Flynt in South West Florida. The workshop location is less than a 10 minute drive from beautiful Sanibel Island or Fort Myers Beach. |
This intimate workshop setting with its very limited number of participants will allow plenty of one on one time with the artist. Regular demonstrations and lectures will be accompanied by individual feedback and advice as participants work toward the completion of their own individual paintings. |

Participants will be offered an extensive look at a portrait painting process which favors the classical and academic sensibilities. Explore the stages of preparatory drawing, an ébauche or under-painting, and turning form to create a finish. All the while, participants will learn about drawing strategies, structural drawing, color theory and paint mixing, palette layout, colors seen in flesh tones and how light on form affects our perceptions of color, explained through metaphor, theory and application. |
